A leash for a turtle?

golfdiva May 30, 2004 07:24 PM

I was working in the yard yesterday, and I thought my boxie would enjoy being outside too. I took a ball of string and wrapped one end snugly around her shell and and knotted it. I also ended up taping it with a few pieces of tape to keep it in place.

I let her go and boy did she seem to have a good time tramping around the yard and even into the woods and under stick and leaf piles. And I had no problem finding her back!

Is there a commercially made harness/leash for turtles that would make this a little easier?

Hi!

I do the same thing; but try this instead of tape & for extra security...

Purchase a leather dog's collar and fasten that around the shell of your turtle. Then attach a rope that has a clip at the end of it to the collar. Works brilliantly!!

Cool! Thanks for the great idea!

I've look at those iguana leashes and wondered if that would work too.
