Now the Orange Dude needs a house!

LinsZoo Jun 18, 2003 10:01 AM

Thanks to everyone that put my mind at ease about an orange iguana. Now we need to build him a house. I need suggestions here since it will have to be more long than tall (back legs do not work) and he will be living in my duaghters livingroom so we need something that still looks acceptable. He was a free roamer so we want him to be where the action is. Do you suggest 'glass' or wire? I have a design in my head and want to make sure I have covered all his needs. We'll post a pic of the finished product. Thanks again!

I would think both. that way he can have fresh air and you can still control his humidity to an extent. AND glass will probly be easier to keep clean.

Actually, your question is a very good one. I've actually had to draw up plans for a similar needs savannah, and I can tell you, I should have asked first!! Foremost, height is not an issue, Dude can still enjoy height. Levels in a cage are extremely underrated. Also, by using wire mesh, Dude may try to climb up that and end up falling and injuring himself further. It can be used, but would need to be placed away from where he can get to climb. I have tons of info, too long to post here, so feel free to email me off list, and I'll help in every way I can. Good Luck!
