Feeding newborn hognose

DangerJudy Jun 18, 2003 10:01 AM

I have a question. Is it hard to get newborn hognose to eat pinkies? OR are they pretty good about eating? I know that hognose get finiky in the winter (mine sure did) but I wondered how hard it is to get babies to eat. I got my hog as a sub-adult...

Not at all, they are not much harder than a cornsnake. Most of the time they will eat live pinkies first time and frozen after that. Sometimes you may need to rub the pinkie on a toad. Of coarse there are cornsnakes that sometimes will only eat lizard at first. And there are Hognose that insist on toad. I'm assuming you are speaking of Western Hognose. Easterns are a whole other story.IMHO
