I love my two res and I think I'm doing everything right but my biggest RES' shell is kind of bumpy. It's not smooth but has dips and bumps from scute to scute. He also has a very high "pyramid" to his shell. Is this normal or is it a sign of something I'm doing wrong? I have a UVB light and a proper basking spot with a UVA lamp. I only feed them reptomin pellots though; could this be the problem? He is growing faster than my other RES and I got them at the same time. My other one doesn't have the bump/dip problem but they both eat the same amount. I'm concerned and confused????

He is getting to much protein in his diet. RES need veggies and leafy greens, not just reptomin. You don't say how big he is, but if he is 2 inches long or so, switch to only feeding a small amount of reptomin every other day, and feed them mainly leafy greens, such as mustard greens, watercress, collards, dandelion greens, turnip greens etc.

Thanks!!! I will start doing that. Gator is about 2 1/2 across and the NoNo is about 2 inches. Same for both is ok right? Are strawberries ok? I read it some where that as an occasional treat they are ok so I gave them one last night and they LOVED it!

They are not getting too much protein in their diet. When RES are small they should start with lots of protein in their diet, as they get older then you should start to give them more veggies.

At that size they are not hatchlings and do not need much protein. Mine love strawberries, I usually just give them the caps, because I love strawberries too.
