ALIESTER May 30, 2004 10:18 PM

hi guys i have a 4' corn snake and when i first got her, she was eating live mice but, i've notice she was a week constrictor.so i've changed from feeding her live to frozenand she ate that for a while until two months ago she stop eating, so i thought she was sick ,so i took her to the vet ,and the vet told me she was fine. he said that the temp and hummidity where wrong so i played with that, until one day i was feeding my ball python and he eats live,so i said to my self what the hell you know maybe i'll get lucky and what do you know she ate .and shes been eating ever since. Now my question is how do i change her back to eating frozen and why did she change. I hope you guys can help.

You switch to f/t same way as before...by offering when the snake is hungry and feeding well. A warm item with a little bit of movement (with your help) may help. Sometimes a snake that has gone off food will accept a prey item from it's past, so to speak. When one of mine fasts for awhile, going backwards on the food scale (from rats to mice, or fuzzies to pinkies for example) sometimes works. While frozen/thawed is best for many reasons, some snakes never fully take to dead prey. Just keep an eye on the live ones and never leave them alone with your snake. Duffy
