Hi there! From few days ago I noticed a really strange behavior in my young spettacled caiman. He's about 27". So, maybe 3 or 4 days ago he became really nervous, without a reason start to run in the cage..or jumps up on the glass door!!!And suddenly He became quiet! The enviroment is always the same!I'm pretty worried about this..tnx

It's very difficult for anyone to try to guess what it's issues might be, I'm sure that's why you have not gotten any responses.

I personally wouldn't have a clue without seeing it happen and observing the events leading up to it.

Good luck,

BIll

I have noticed the same behavior in my animals lately. I am pretty sure I have figured out why.
Temps. will effect activity level. This is the time of year were it gets real warm during the day. People are turning on the AC. in the afternoon of evening.
When the house is warm they get more active. After the AC cools the house they will slow down.
Mine have been most active and jumpy in the afternoon. I'll kick on the air after work and they mellow out as the temp. drops.
Hope this helps.

my little spec is doing the same thing latley. I have been awaken by his jumping and splashing, and it takes alot to wake me up. I wonder if it might be the beginning of the mating season but sobek is only 26" long so he should not be showing any urges yet. I hope that this is only a temporary thing.
As for the AC theory that could be a very sound thought but I dont have AC in my home.
if any one has any clue I'd bew interested to hear them as well.

my gator is also pretty noisey right now- barking up a storm- i've been going around the web finding sound bites of gators to play back to him...i think i have him convinced that he's not the only gator around...it's cool, like i'm chatting with him.
