Day 42 of waiting! anyone wanna guess the hatch date??

Crystall Jun 18, 2003 10:20 AM

These guys..or GIRLS I should say, were kept at 79-80F the first 2 weeks exaclty. And then I upped the temps to 89-90. Now they are at 42 days and counting! I am SOOOO impatient!
Anyone wanna take a guess as to when theyll hatch?
Ive had some say 46 days, im going for 44 days myself

BTW..these will probably be normals, im still hoping for that PA Ive been waiting for! But we'll see!!
Wish me luck!

Thanx,
Crystal

Because I use perlite in my nest boxes...works good, if you mix it up If you dont mix it up, it will be too hard for them to dig.
Havent had a problem with it so far. And I get nice white eggs! hehe

Dont tell me NEXT WEEK! I want them to hatch NOWWWW..LOL.

I dont mix it with anything. The trick is getting it damp, and then mixing it up enough so that it is easy to dig in, or else it becomes hard and very tough to dig in.
I have had absolutely no problems with this method, id suggest trying it.
Most people would say no, that it is too tough..but if it is mixed up just right, its very loose

Put a damp paper towel underneath the perlite, or else if the females dig too far and lay the eggs will become stuck to the nest box container. Ive had that happen twice, but luckily I got them off with no harm done.

My female has laid her eggs on the very bottom every time and they havent gotten stuck yet. I'm not to worried about that, but thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for the info, I think I might do it but mix it in a 2:1 ratio of perlite to peat moss rather than a 2:1 ratio of peat moss to perlite. Thanks for the help...
