John---- he is losing most of the red --- hope he gets some color on that tail. Heres a mutt adult in the pic. It is easy to see it is a hybrid.

started to get some orange in the tail near the base. How big is he? Hew does look like a male redtail in their early developement. From this point the black would start to slowly take over over the span of about 2 years. He is a yearling this year? Tom
I'm guess him to be approximately 10" now. I think he is going on one year, but DVL would have to verify that. Regarding the orange tail...nothing some carrot baby food and some elbow grease can't handle ;P
