overly aggressive female (long)

gyke May 31, 2004 11:41 AM

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before. I have had this female about two years. So far she has gone through three cagemates, the first one was a male and she constantly chased him around and then started attacking him, finally I seperated them. (he soon died from unrelated causes) Thinking she was a male I got a female then when I found out she was a female I got a male. The three were got along great for a while until the new female became a little weak after having eggs. Then she started attacking her by biting her neck. I seperate them and a few months later she started attacking the male and I had to take him out too. Now things have changed and I have to rearrange the two cages I have. The only place I have for her is with two other females, one of which was the one she attacked. I tried putting her in with them and she started waving her arm, bobbing her head, and viciously biting one on the neck so I took her out. Is it possible that it could take a few days for them to get along? If I can't get her to be able to get along with the two other females I'll probably have to find her a new home, which I don't want to do, because the only other empty cage I have is a 100 gallon which I know is too small and I have no room for another bigger cage. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had a bassie that wouldn't get along with my dragons, and I had to find her a new home. Before I found her a home, I had to divide my cage in half to keep them apart. I don't think there is anything you can do, keeping them together will only put the other dragons in danger or at least stress them out, and she may never settle down.
