A lady came into the petstore I work at talking about how she feeds her arg. red tegu the san diego diet. I guess it is turkey with calcium? Can someone tell me more about that?

I am decided wheather or not to get a monitor or a tegu in August. I want a big lap lizard that I can let free roam. Plus I like that the tegus eat fruits. I am a vegetarian so there are tons of plant matter in my house. What precentage of fruit and vegetables does the adult blk and whts eat? Thanks in advance.
