3 month old beardie not eating....why?

turtlequest May 31, 2004 02:58 PM

What could cause this?

Low temps?
Crix to big?
calcium sand?

These are all mistakes i have made since learning how care for a bearded dragon....now that it has all been corrected, my beardie hasn't eaten in 3 days.

Any suggestions.

All three things you mentioned could cause loss of appetite. Having remedied them, there are still some possible causes to investigate. Has your dragon had a bowel movement in the last three days? Try a nice warm (not hot) soak and drink and see if that stimulates one. Do you notice any signs of swelling or poor hind leg movement? These are signs of impaction and it must be remedied.
Parasites can also cause loss of appetite. Have you had a fecal screening done on your dragon?

Best,
michele

No, it's NOT a big house

maybe he's bored with his diet... keep in mind, stress is probably one of the leading causes for loss of appetite. A new enviornment, new cage or furnature in it, a load tv, not sleeping due to light or noise, a new pet in the house...

and sometimes they just decide not to eat for a day or two.
