My adult Sumatran Red Bloods!

googo151 May 31, 2004 05:49 PM

Hey Bloods,
This is my pair of adult Sumatran Red Bloods, from PE. The pair was bred this year, but unfortunately, produced a clutch of 12 infertile eggs. The red male is Fred, and the high yellow girl is Wilma. They were named after the Flintstone characters.
Fred had a reputation big on bite and no bluff. He's cooled out as an adult, and is quite tractable and allows me to handle him without so much as a puff now.

Now thats a nice example of a red blood, very nice looking male there. He'd go good with my female red.Glad to see your collection, they are all nice to look at, can't get enough of everyone's snakes, to bad we all didn't live in same city we could have a big blood fest.

Hey Carole,
Thanks for the compliment on my man Fred. He is a cutie! He is just over a shed this morning, and is looking really good, so obviously, I couldn't help snapping a few pictures of him in his new skin.

Just an anecdote on Fred. When he was about 4 months old, he once locked on my hand like a pitbull, and he wouldn't let go, this after biting my hand while servicing his cage something like, 3x. At any rate, I had to run him over to the sink and run the water over his head, inorder to get him to release his grip or bite. Ouch!

Gotta love those war stories! So the hot water worked for you then? I know retic/burm keepers recommend hot/warm water to get the giants to release their hold, but haven't heard of others trying it. I'll remember that though. I haven't been tagged by a blood yet (famous last words, eh?)...but in all honesty, I almost want to..just to get it over with, ya know? It seems like worrying about the bite is usually worse than the bite itself Still, I'm not looking forward to getting hit by an adult, what with the way bloods like to flat out lunge!

Thanks for the chat

Hey Carole,
Just the warm water was all that was needed. What a grip though! Bit flat too, full gape, and caught the entire palm of my hand flat. That was weird. If you've never been tagged, then lucky you. Albeit, he was a little thing then, but I wouldn't want to get tagged now, he's a little larger now. LOL! Thank G.., that would leave a mark.
