I haven't a clue about odatriad eggs, but I can back up what FR said about large monitor eggs coping with denting. The egg this hatchling came out of (now resting near the bottom of the photo after the hatchling had kicked it around - you can see a bit of the umbilicus hanging out) was very dented before it slit. It popped back to normal shape after it was slit.
Now check out the egg near the hatchling's tail, the one that looks like a white prune. I weighed that egg a month before this photo had been taken, when it first started to dent, and it had already dropped to its original laying weight. By the time this photo was taken, there didn't seem to be enough room in there for a hatchling. What you can't see in the photo is that there is a dent on the bottom of the egg, as well. That egg hatched two days after this photo was taken. The hatchling that came out is not only healthy, but appears to be 1 1/2 times as vigorous as the hatchling in this photo and has increased in weight by over 50% in its first week after commencing feeding.
