What's the Record Number of Eggs A Corn Lays?????

elaphopeltishow May 31, 2004 08:09 PM

my best effort(as if it's any strain on me personally) after over 15 yrs of captive breeding Okeetees and a few other corn morphs is 43 good eggs from a 4 and 1/2 foot female I collected in 1992.what is more astounding is that she double clutched and gave me 27 more eggs. for the curious all 70 eggs produced robust healthy hatchlings!!my average, once the female reaches the 4 foot and better range(granted, this length is often greater than many corns get-not Okeetees, however)has been consistently high 20s low 30s.this year the same female that laid the 43 gave me 42 but 6 were not fertile(age related?),and another of my females gave me 39. what's the most you have heard of? alot of books give 33 as the optimal number and to them i say "baloney".
