Problem with Panther

jthmpsn May 31, 2004 09:00 PM

I obtained a 3 month old ambanja male about 2 months ago (he is now 5 months). He has been doing very good eating and drinking on schedule. He has also grown well and gaining color. He started with blue bars and is now getting blue over the rest of him.

A few days ago i had to change the plants in his cage because he is getting to heavy to climb on them. I did wash off the plant and made sure it was nontoxic before introducing it so the plant shouldnt be a problem. And now he will not drink, but is still eating good. He also has a brown color as a base color when he is resting.

I was wondering if i can do anything about his drinking and how will i know when it is becoming a problem. Also is turning brown a sign of poor health.

Also i was wondering if the blue bars can turn to red with age because the sire had red bars with yellow back ground.

Thanks in advance

If he has blue bars at 5 months its most likely just going to get more blue.

The brown color usually means he is either sunning or not happy, I had a chameleon that did not like me to move anything in his cage, he'd get sick every time I did. Your chameleon might have loved the plant you took out and is missing it making him stressed. They will stop eating and drinking when real stressed sometimes. Try putting his old plant back in the cage and see if he looks better.
