Different but the same

What characteristics do these two boas have in common ? Which do you find more attractive and why? Just curious what everybody looks for?

Hera

Gwen

I love Hera's peaks. I am a fan of high widows, thats all. I like the overall coloration of Gwen though. Her silver look is definitely sharp and her head pattern is very cool (eyebrows). Honestly though, Charles, they are both outstanding and neither would be kicked out of my collection!!!
Take care buddy,
Eric

I love peaks too, but I would give up huge peaks for a symmetrical pattern any day of the week.

... peaks are never bad on a boas physical appearance! I also enjoy 'trail' markings inbetween saddles... you know, like this:

Hera is certainly top notch, very clean etc., but I personally like the crisp and colorful medallions on Greta. She also has nice widely spaced saddles and good contrast.

I'm with you... I think the younger animal is better looking regardless of the speckles. I think they have the same saddle count but the smaller saddles give the appearence of wider spaces between.

I like her tail better, it has more blotches. I also like her silver color and clean white tail. Both boas are amazing but if I had to pic it would be Gwen.

I look for a symmetrical pattern, fairly to very tight saddles with well-pronounced but not overdone peaks. I look for good alignment of the dorsal portion of the saddles with the sides, producing the famous "bats". Very few animals have perfect alignment from the first bat on the neck all the way to the tail. One way to put it would be to say that I'm looking for the amarali "look" in a suri.

I prefer light colored animals; a nice buckskin, well speckled or immaculate--I'm not drawn to those animals in between. Interestingly, I prefer well speckled animals to have fully connected dorsals, and cleaner ones to have their light dorsal markings merge with the laterals, again leaving that amarali look.

Finally, I look for a rich burgundy to bright red tail color.

My only suris just now are the ones from Basically Boas--good, speckly ones that promise to grow into richly colored adults. For my next ones, I plan to comb through Barry Miller's offerings, or maybe Brian Abrahamson's for a pair of the cleanest, battiest ones I can find.

floating saddles or connected.. doesn't really matter to me as long as they are evenly spaced. I'm not sure how Barry is doing this year with his breedings, but Brian has 4 gravid females. If all goes well Brian is gonna crank out some real killers... you can bet yourself I am on that list

I love her nice clean, concise pattern and great tail. She is truly a queen of Suris! I guess I'm more attracted to the clearer, less speckled boas with nice tails. Of course, I can't say that my collection doesn't have it's fair share of speckles! lol. I suppose the 'neat freak' in me likes the clear pattern. However, both Gwen and Hera are truly awesome boas!

She is super clean between the saddles, has great coloring(purple on the sides and a nice light tan on top) and has great saddles. I even love the distinctive gimpy saddle. She is perfect. No contest IMO.

JMHO, FWIW, YMMV.
