Producing Eggs

Frogger1985 May 31, 2004 11:18 PM

Has anyone had their female ACFs produce eggs without a male present in the tank? If so, will they lay the eggs? I guess if they did I probably wouldn't see them because they would gobble them up.

Any info would help.
Thanks
Crissy

Yes they can and will lay eggs even if a male isnt around. Mine did and that was when I finally found out she was a girl They usually will eat them anyway so I wouldnt worry about cleaning up after her too much.

females will drop eggs with a temperature or water change.. males have to amplex them and spray sprem onto them to fertilize, other wise they are not viable occytes.
