Sterile Female?

milwaukeereptile Jun 01, 2004 01:15 AM

Hi everyone,
I have a female carrot-tail that has been producing eggs very nicely so far this season. The only problem is, none of them are fertile. She's layed three sets (once a month) and they all seem to be infertile. I know the male is fine because he's proven himself with a couple of my other females. I also know that this is her first year of breeding. Is it possible for a female to drop this many bad eggs and still give fertile eggs in the future? I hope so because she's been so good, hasn't dropped any weight or anything. Let me know what you all think?

Brian

It's possible that the male's sperm didn't take. -- Did you actually witness them mating?

Also, I've been told that, during the 1st breeding season, female leos often lay several infertile eggs.

I actually did not physically see them mate. I'll try reintroducing and see what happens. Thanks for the response.
