As far as i know, toes dont grow back. I had an adult beardy givin to me and he had missin digits on his front feet and they never grew back. Id make bananas only a treat because of their high potassium content. But id give him mustard greens, dandilion greens and flowers, hibiscus leaves and flours, kale, bok choy, rasberries, strawberries, yellow squash, and turnip greens. Variety is the spice of life.
Toes definetly don't grow back on lizards. Amphibians sometimes, but not lizards.
I also totally agree that your diet needs much more variety. Mostly a large variety of greens, the diet can be supplemented with other veggies and a little fruit. With bananas in particular, they have a high phosphorus level which if fed in large amounts in addition to a poorly supplemented, low variety diet can throw out the Ca
ratio; a common/serious dietary problem with improperly fed iguanas.
Although I am not a huge fan of Melissa Kaplan's site (I find it quite opinionated), she does have excellent iguana information including a great list of dietary foods for iguanas.
There are many veggies that are considered "bad" food. Spinach can cause oxalates/bind calcium, kale has too much of this, okra has too little of that ect ect. The key is variety to counter-balance any specific vegetables inadequacy.
http://www.iguanaden.com and http://www.myiguana.com and http://www.greenigsociety.org are better sites for information then melissa kaplans site.
Thank you for the information you provided me. I want to specify about my Iguana. He is quite young and his previous owner said that part of his digits will grow back, but not all of it. Will his nail grow back at least?
