Have you ever seen such a large female Hoggie?

They are just as neat as corns.

The scales are so cool

My male

They do hiss and puff a little more but I have not been bitten by a Hognose (I have had several specimen). They are good feeders. The females are mostly vocarious feeders. The males do skip a meal now and then. They are quite small compared to corns. We have a metric system so 10 gallon does not say anything to me but 40 cm X 50 cm is a nice cage for one specimen.

I agree they are really some cool looking little snakes. I am getting a pair from a friend as soon as they hatch out. I can't wait. I love their scales too. They are rough like a little rattler. Is it true that they are picky eaters? (worse than corns) Any info you could pass on would be great, as this will be my first venture into another type of snake other than a ratsnake, and my BP.

Picky eaters? The female comes out with her mouth open when food is in the air.. LOL No, they are vocarious feeders. Hatchlings take a while to get started sometimes. They need a little frog or anole scenting but then when have started they are good feeders. They love to burrow but do also lay out in the open. I have never seen one in their water bowl. In breeding season males don't eat for months. They are made for one purpose and that is breeding
They need a cool periode to hibernate. And in captivity we tend to spoil them too much. That's why a lot of females become eggbound. They are too fat. It's hard to feed them little because they will patrole the cage few days after feeding. Simply because they are hungry

She is one big girl. My little Dakota is 5yrs old and only 18inches. He would be impressed with your female. Mine is a great display snake as he likes to come out and check out everyone looking at him. And, yes, they can be picky/finicky feeders. I have to scent fuzzy's for Dakota before he will accept them. But he's one of my favorite snakes.

I have had some picky feeder males. But it seems they have breeding on their mind the whole year. Most females are like retics

My largest female is huge. Her first clutch has been 22-24 eggs with a second clutch of 12. I'm not expecting that this year but I should have her first clutch in a couple of weeks.
Let me know how she produces for you. She looks like she could easily produce a clutch as large as mine does.
good luck!!!
Marcel what in the name of God do you feed your critters?Your female probably has enough venom to kill a moose.I hope you dont let her chew on your fingers to long, that is the biggest hog Ive ever seen. All the ones Ive happen across in the wild havent been a 10th of that size.

I saw one about 3 weeks ago fishing.I thought I ran it over with my truck but it was just playing dead.Nice little guy about 9-10 inches. The best time to see the little buggers is in the spring,in the morning after a good rain.Like a fool I didnt take my camera with me that morning because it was raining.
A few years back I contacted the IDNR,Illinios,Deptment of Natural Resources trying to locate timber rattlers in my state. They gave me the run around about getting busted with a protected species.I dont want one, I would just enjoy finding one.My Grandpa on my Dad's side of the family use to tell me stories about how at work they would dig up huge colonies of timber rattlers while strip mining for coal.If he was alive today he would be 111 years old.So say in the last 90 years they have became an endangered specie.I would be satisfied just to accidently get bit by one.Someday with luck I will find one.
