my lil annie is a good eatter she ate 4 large mice today only thing is she dose not constrict them just downs them and if she cant find the head she will rap the mouse in her so she can find the head. do your condas constirct there prey? i feed mine prey killed large mice becouse its cheeper. a large mouse is alil smaller then a small rat and is half the price. also it took her about 5 minutes to even bite the first mouse she just went over and rested her head on it. then after that she eat the others but the last one she eat tail first. my black racer eats all his mice tail first. well just like to tell u all about my annies feeding. there seemed to be a slow down on the forum.

there is nothing wrong with not coiling a prey item that is not alive. i have some snakes that will do that and my anaconda will from time to time with not strike..other times i have to watch my hands.

I have also seen numerous green anacondas exhibit this feeding behavior. They either constrict the prey first or just lay across it without constriction. Either way, I have seen them lay across the prey for many minutes up to several hours before swallowing the prey item. Why they do this is a mystery to me, but it is fairly common behavior, and appears to be slightly more common in adults.
