fecal test question

jananicole66 Jun 01, 2004 04:25 PM

Hey,
I want to take a poop sample to the vet to get a fecal test done.. because i've never gotten one done. Since I've had Aries since she was a hatchling practically, she has always pooped on the warm side of the tank. So she poops on the hot side, on the tile... late late at nite... and its always dried out by the time i get up in the morning.. and i hear you cant take a dry sample to the vet.. what do i do???

I recently had my geckos got their fecal tested, some of them do poop in the middle of the night and on the warm side; since I know they have parasites and I am worried, so I did wake up twice per night to collect their poop. It is important that the stool sample is still fresh and moist, and uncontaminated (thoroughly clean the area where she's pooping or line a piece of glad-wrap etc) when you collect it; then put the sample in a zip-lock bag or a bottle, then put it in the fridge.

If you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night, maybe you could keep her in a smaller container just for the night? Hope this helps.
