weird stuff in ig poo

riiotgrrl Jun 01, 2004 04:25 PM

Is there anyone that has a pic of iggy internal parasites? Sunny has had some odd stuff in her poo lately...looking like orange pulp. She did eat a whole orange late last week, im just wondering if this is just the remainder of the pulp comming out or if it is worms (they dont look wormy, and it doesnt move). She shoudlnt have worms because she isnt exposed to other animals, and she is strictly indoors. She was checked up in october before i got her. I will get her checked asap, but i cant quite yet. Gice me some opinions and possibly some pics to help. I think i am being paraniod, but some one else's opinions would be good too. Thanks!

It's possible it could be orange urates. Dehydrated iguanas, females reabsorbing eggs, and males in season, can all have orange urates. Try increasing her fluid intake and see if it improves.

That is interesting. Wouldnt orange urates be hard, and not squishy? The fact that they could also be reabsorbed eggs is interesting too. they are too big to be worms (at least i would hope so...) She doestn appear to be behydrated...although it seems that her poo is more compact and harder than normal. Thank you for your imput. I appreciate it greatly.

Very firm or dry poop is not normal...sign of dehydration. Try spraying food with water before feeding...adds more water to diet. Worms aren't orange. It's probably undigested matter from the orange.

That makes me feel a bit better. Dehydration i can fix. I have been soaking her daily other than every other day (i got a bit lazy) lately, so i think this will help. I have given her a bit more fruit too, to help things move a bit more. Hopefully this helps. Thank you alot.
