thayeri

riiotgrrl Jun 01, 2004 04:32 PM

I got this beauty from petco....healthy and sweet, believe it or not. Sancho doesnt musk, and has NEVER tried to bite me. He is by far the sweetest king i have ever handled. Nice peach phase too (althought you cant really tell from the pic). Opinions? I was thinking of breeding him with my creamsicle cornsnake later on in his life. I think it may be an interesting endevor. Any thoughts on the babies? Im not really sure what i would get from the clutch. Probably some really strange colors and patterns. Here he is:

You won't be able to breed your kingsnake and corn snake unless you want the corn snake to be a meal for the king snake!

Why not breed him to another Thayeri? If you really want an "interesting endeavor" breeding thayeri to thayeri is as interesting as it gets. You can get three distinct color morphs in just one clutch of eggs, and you would avoid creating some freakish "frankensnake".Most (not all) people on this forum would tell you to avoid cross breeding to another species for a number of reasons.

The Hybrid forum can help you with the corn/king breeding you certainly could do it. Great looking snake esp for Petco. The chain pet stores I have gone to all had half dead lousy looking snakes.
Nice looking snake amazing that you found it at PETCO.

Breeding a Thayeri to a Thayeri is the ONLY way to go. They are the most variable snake. You can only find this type of variability in other snakes when morphs are bred together. With Thayeri they are magnificent in their normal state.

I have been breeding Thayeri for years and they are by far my favorite and the funnest. You never know what you will hatch out unless years and years on line breeding has been achieved.

Very nice. I love the heart shape. The only reason i say that i want to try breeding my thayeri to my corn is becayse i have been 'cut off' snake wise, and i would love to try breeding. ALTHOUGH... my hogs may be ready to breed next year. hmm....OR maybe i can sneak in one more snake. . .i may have to think about this.
