I need serious opinions please

Hello, I have a problem that may seem silly to alot of you but it's getting pretty serious.. I have a 4 1/2' male green iguana who just recently has decided to try and eat my cat!! Now I have 3 cats and he only gose after the male. keeping them seperate isn't really an option because My Iguana has been free roaming for at least 7 years and will refuse to eat or move in that matter if he is put in a cage and I live in the contry so keeping the cat out all the time also isnt an option. My cats where raised around the reptiles so they dont see them as thret so the cat sits there while my iguana trys to bite him. I have no idea what to do and I really dont want to end up bringin the cat in for stitches because Bud bit him... so any ideas would be helpfull thanks alot.

My ig chases the cats too. I dont see why your ig would chase only the male...unless he is unfixed. But what i have figured by sunny chasing my cats is that 1) they are about the same size so she apparently sees them as other igs from time to time 2) The reptile room is HER room and if she doesnt want them in there, they wont be 3) the cats run from her and bounce over her if they are cornered.

i dont know if you can learn from my personal thoughts....I think that soon enough if your ig continues to chase them they will eventuually see him as a threat and keep away from him. good luck with this.

Is he really aggressive with your cat?
I have 3 iggys and 2 cats(male), but only 1 iggy free roams all the time. He is a 4 yr old cuban rock iguana and is pretty stout and only 3 feet long. My cats follow him around and both have been bitten by him. He doesn't bite them hard at all just enough to let them know he wants their spot. I've noticed if he sees one of the cats and he is heading near that area, he will head right for them on purpose and make them move. First he licks them a couple of times. Then if they don't move he bites. He has crawled up on top of our big cat on the back of the couch because the cat was in the window.I think he is just showing them who is really the boss. The cats are really good with him and don't attack him. I keep a close eye on them when they are near each other. The cats will even get up near him and lay down right next to him. Here is a pic of our little cat and Chaos.

My cousin had an ig that was raised with his girlfriends cats (in their Florida Room) & they bit & tail whipped for the first few days until they established a pecking order.

After the cats figured out that the lizard was the "top dog", there weren't any more problems...AND...the lizard started using their kitty litter pan!

On the same hand, Forest has this biting thing for male company that comes over. Not females, just males. He managed to nip my uncles sock the other day (my uncle is kinda slow & didn't get his feet up in time so Forest managed to grab his sock) which PISSED me off.

Now, when my uncle comes over, he makes sure he's as far from Forest as he can get.

I make sure & warn ALL male company at our house that if forest is on a walk-about, keep an eye on him if he gets with 3 feet. Forest is not fast but if he sees an opening, he'll take it.

BAD lizard.

Sorry couldn't be more help but Luck's ig & their cats worked it out.
