driving across the country

jeune18 Jun 01, 2004 10:04 PM

hey guys, for many reasons, i am going back home to south carolina for the summer. i leave next monday. we are driving pretty fast me and a friend but does anyone have any idea how to make it less stressful and warmer for the lizards? they will have the back seat to themselves. we are pretty much driving for 20 hours, staying in a hotel and then driving 20 more hours.
also is anyone from oklahoma city or know the area. that is where we want to stay on our stop and i am trying to find a hotel!

I would toss a cold pack in a cooler, and keep the lizards cool for the trip. I would be much more concerned about over heating than getting chilly. Put some blue ice in a cooler, and throw a few towels over the top...enough to keep the lizards off the ice. The wrap the lizards up in a pillow case and toss them in. They will be much less stressed if they are cool. When they are warm, they will scratch, claw, jump and do all they can to escape. That's the best advice I can give.

Best of luck on your trip. I don't know the area of OK city at all. It is pretty big, so I'm sure there are countless hotels.

well i am not really sure how i feel about sticking them on ice, but i definitely will not worry as much about them being cold. maybe i will put them in their little cages so they cannot move around as much and then just put a dark blanket on them so it is night time for a couple days. i only have a little escort so if the air is on then it will be cold all over the car.
i do not leave until monday evening like 7 pm. should i not feed the lizards on sunday or should i just not feed them monday?

I would wait until I got settled to feed them.
