Laying Eggs - Should I change Diet?

suldog Jun 01, 2004 10:21 PM

I looked through the old messages but I didn't see this addressed directly - my 9 year old RES is laying eggs, and then eating them. Is she doing this because she's a wild animal and they do things like that, or because she needs more calcium/nutrients? She usually eats lots o' veggies, a little fruit and the occasional Reptomin as a treat, but if she needs more of anything right now please let me know - she'a always been really healthy and I don't want to do anything to compromise her health. I attached her photo so you can see how cute she is on her favorite rock.

Thanks!

RES will eat anything they find. Is she laying the eggs in the water? She should have a place to lay them outside of her tank, otherwise she may not lay them all.
