It really depends on your vet. Just call and ask them.

My vet charges $16.

Where did you purchase your BD? Some stores have cooperative agreements with local veterinarians to provide services to their animals. One of the major chains here even has on-site basic veterinary care and several smaller specialty stores also provide a free initial screen for any animal purchased there. While you might not choose to go to a exerience/creds-unknown vet for herp care, a fecal screen is pretty routine. Can't hurt to call and ask if you did get him from a store.

The Humane Society also provides low cost veterinary care. Again, perhaps not your first choice for actual treatment, but a fecal screening is a fecal screening.

At the risk of sounding like a commercial, I would personally recommend a thorough course of Parazap. I've had very good results using it on my rescues, who come to me in varied physcial condition. Run a search for it. There is the main co. page as well as several independant distributors.

Best,
michele

i got my bd at a petco.

Well, I know that chain pet places can vary widely in competence etc, but the Petco here actually isn't too bad and on all of the animal cages there is a little sticker that gives the name, # and address of the veterinary clinic that provides care to the animals. Seen anything like this at your local store? Or you could call and check. That vet or clinic may offer a one-time exam and/or test of an animal purchased through that store, if not for free, for reduced fees.

If not, fecal screenings shouldn't run you more than $25.
