Who produces the finest Surinames?

SCVReptiles Jun 02, 2004 12:57 AM

Well as my herpetological interests change once again I've decided I need to raise and breed a pair of boas. Boas are the one group I've never bred before, and I'm dying to see a litter born after seeing everyone's great pics from this years litters. My friend who had recently stopped importing and is now focusing on his own huge colubrid program gave me a male suriname that was wild caught. I'm trying to bring this poor guy around. He still eats and strikes so I have hope for him. Now I need a female. Who is producing super nice surinames? The only pair that really ever struck me was a pair an acquaintence of mine bought from Gary Sipperly back in '95 at the IRBA show. Hey what ever happened to Sipperly? I really like the purple and pink in the surinames. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In addition to the stellar breeders listed above my friend Kemper has a group of the Sipperly line animals you mentioned, and At least one is gravid as well as males have from that line have outbred with other females, give him a shout his user name on the board is 'supplereptiles'.

Mother nature...

Hat's off to the photographer of this pic... hopefully someday i can do her this kind of justice.

might be Hera's siblings. They were imported at about the same time and my female is very, very similar to Hera (but not quite as nice). The male is has big reversed stripe tail.

little things that are alike. Not to mention the connection between alot of the guys down in Florida , I know Chuck would often pick through some of Ben's animals , or Mike would provide animals to both .. so it is very possible. The things that stand out to me about Hera and the animals Brett has is ..

#1 head shape

#2 saddle shape

#3 and the tail pattern

I could be wrong but I would be my left arm they are sibblings.

And i would have to agree,.. to many striking similarities! But ive seen those pics, time for an update bret!!

You ever tire of that pair, let me know!!

I have 2 female Sipps gravid, along with a Futo female. Gary got out of Surinames years ago. He sold them off, and he told me about one select group of animals. It took me 3 years to find the group, but I finally did! Now, they live here, and it is my first year trying to breed them. It is still early, but looks good so far! One of the gravid females is a solid 10ft, the other is a 11-12ft monster.
