just noticed this morning that my male hond. milk snake is disoriented ,having trouble righting himself, it seems neurological perhaps.he has had disecdysis for a few days and i've been helping him shed but today he's exhibiting weird symptoms(descrbed above)and he sort of smells bad too-a mystery since his cage is kept clean.he has not been exposed to chemicals or foreign pathogens that i know of.any ideas?

A parasite infestation may be to blame. Alot of times, when internal parasites essentially take over the innards of a reptile they exhibit these symptoms. The dysecdysis is also a good sign of this. Keep him warm, keep him hydrated, and most important of all, Get him to a vet.

He didn't get overheated at all did he? Has he been exposed to any other snakes? Neurological problems are pretty sticky, usually. He probably should see a vet but there may not be a lot the vet can do. The three main causes of this, as far as I've gathered are insecticides, overheating, and germs infecting the nervous system. If you can rule out causes 1 and 2, cause 3 pretty much sucks. Good luck, he may snap out of it on his own. I would take him to a vet, especially if he's showing any symptoms of dehydration.
