? about mesh tank

chappylestrange Jun 18, 2003 01:20 PM

I found a really great deal on a 65 gal mesh enclosure for when Gordo's bigger. I wonder, do you think this would be ok or would just a plain glass aquarium be better? I think the mesh would be excellent for ventilation though.
Thanks.

they are fine for dragons and some people do use them but they are a bit harder to keep the temps up in, i prefer glass enclosures or other then full mesh reptile enclosures.

a mesh tank is pretty good for a dragon but reiko is right about keeping the temps up though...maybe you could hang a blanket over the back of it and at night just drape a light sheet or blanket over it. it would help to hold in the heat...you wouldn't believe the "rigs" i have for my lizards and they are happy happy happy kids

i have a 65 mesh tank for my youngest water dragon... it is rather hard to keep temps and humidity up in her tank but i solved this by buying an inexpensive shower liner and wired around three sides of her tank..so the front and top are open for ventilation... this really helped..

and was told that there is a possiblity that crickets can eat right through the mesh. If you're beardie has switched to pellets, it may be a good choice. I just purchased one for my beardie but it will only be used as a sunning cage.

That's a good point...about the crickets. Thanks for the info, everyone. I'll probably just go with a glass tank....a bit more expensive but a little easier in the long run I guess.
