I've been very busy with the end of school and getting ready to start in the fall. I have lost a few herps in the last month, and just wanted to know anyone's thoughts on the situation. I first lost a 3 y/o sulcata that I received as a rescue in Feb. I knew it was in bad shape, but the appetite was back and I was giving biweekly soaks in water. Suddenly the little bugger stopped eating and despite every attempt to keep it hydrated, it developed a sunken, dehydrated appearance and died a week later. Very disheartening, although I know that by the time you observe a problem with chelonians it is usually too late. I just lost my female pictus gecko yesterday. She suddenly stopped eating last week and I found her yesterday evening. She was kind of old, she was purchased over seven years ago as a gravid female. And now my beloved female collared Bonita has developed an eye infection. I have been flushing it twice a day and applying an antibiotic eye ointment (nonsteroidal) 2x a day. I moved her onto paper towels so that she doesn't contaminate the eye, but I am still worried. If I don't notice any improvement in a few days I am taking her to the vet. Any suggestions?
Laura
My other collareds, juvie box turtle, tegu, and beardie are OK. Are the casulties a fluke or do you think I have something going around?
