Ya, I,m told it's soal purpose is used by car manufacturers to heat up car seats. It's produced in NJ and only a few suppliers have access to it. Places you can buy it are
Bean Farm
Creative aquatics
Big Apple Herpetological
and
The Reptile Source.

The bean farm has it for the lowest price I've seen. You can get great deals on it at the various herp shows.

Good Luck

Flexwatt is primarily used in heating of floors /walls and is made to be used WITH ventilation to it . in a sealed setup it overheats rather reapidly due to having nowhere to disperse the heat.Calorique is the manufactuer of the "flexwatt" tape. they manufacturer it and use it for the above mentioned uses and also for industrial uses for drum warmers for chemicals etc to keep them from freezing .

heat tape is also used in the floral/greenhouse industry to warm seedlings.

it's unlikely that you will find heat tape locally.on this site go to classifieds then to cages/supplies etc. and then scott michaels/serpent city.his flexwatt prices are the best i've found, and he has much experience on it's application.plus he is a vet.have fun!

True Heat tape is also used to wrap pipes to prevent it from freezing. If you live in a warm climate, it can be difficult to find. It comes in a variety of lengths. The drag with it is that is rather thick - approx. 1/8", which means you have to dado the rack in order to get it to fit.

I would strongly recommend that you not cover FlexWatt with anything. I have had it short when even covered with thin sheet metal to disperse heat. I would use the foil tape to secure it and leave it exposed to air.
