Question about eggs

Andy1982 Jun 02, 2004 02:34 PM

My female albino just laid her second clutch of the year. The first one came as a suprise to me and i was too late to save them. It was an unusually long time between clutches, or so it seems to me (about seven weeks), but she finally did lay late monday night. I am, however, having some concerns about the eggs. The first concern is that they are still dented in. They were before i transferred them into the incubator, adn i expected them to fill out by now. Do i need to add more water to the vermiculite?? I am using the thermal hovabator, should i just add a dish of water into the incubator to increase the ambient humidity, do you think that will help?? Also, and this seems odd to me, but maybe it isn't, the eggs are stuck together. She laid thed with perpendicular to each other with one about half on top of the other, and when i pulled them out, they were stuck together. Is this a problem?? Should i just leave them or try to separate them (seems like a high risk for breaking one or both of them). I am hoping both the eggs are fertile and still healthy enough to hatch in a few weeks. Thank you for any information you can give me!!

Andy

Yes I would ad some water to the incubator to increase the humidity. I would also try a little technique I have used a few times with some success. Get a small piece of paper towel and wet it till its thoroughly damp but not dripping. Place it over the two eggs and hopefully they will absorb some of the moisture. I have done this on occasion and seen dented eggs plump back up. As for seperating the eggs there is no need to and it could cause you to break the eggs so just leave them be. Make sure you medium also has the right amount of moisture to it. Hope this helps and hope to see some albinos you hatched posted here in a couple months.
