hey thanx for posting that on the corn forum.

anyway, I really want to get a boa i love the way they look they jsut have this cool appeal to me i cant really explain it. and i am kinda looking for a snake that will get pretty big. But... my only problem is i dont want an animal i wont be able to get out of the enclosure for fear of it accidently mistakeing me for food. with cons its fine if they do that cuz they cant hurt you....but a snake that is over 6 foot is another story. well lets just say im only 16 and about 5'8 150 lbs. now my step dad likes my snakes my mom dosent and my little step sisters love them as much as i do. mabe a boa isnt for me until i get older you know but then again mabe it is a good addition to my collection. i think i need to do some more reasearch in order to make my decision.

thanxs again

Hey Rttlvenom,

Even though I have 20 years on you, I'm pretty much the same size as you, and I don't have many problems handling mine. Generally as long as they are kept well fed, the feeding reactions aren't much of a problem. I feed almost all of my boas in containers other than their enclosures and that seems to cut down on me being mistaken for a mouse, rat or rabbit. Also, definitley find one feeding on f/t prey, it really seems to make them much less aggressive.

As I think I mentioned before, there are locales that stay a lot smaller. My cay Caulker from Gus is only around 6', and she most likely won't get a whole lot longer. She also has a great temperment, and from what I have heard that seems to go with most from that locale.

Take care,
Rick S.
