Gravid HL????

tommymx Jun 02, 2004 08:27 PM

I am a chameleon breeder, and a wildlife and fisheries student. I had a person bring a gravid HL to me and he really wants to keep it to see them hatch. I told him I would do m best to set him up properly. please send me any information that you guys have about how they lay and what temps to incubate at. A little advice on cage setup up would be helpful too. Thanks in advance.

What species of HL is it? Where is it from?

I am pretty sure it is P cornutum, since there are only two species in kansas and only one of theses two resides on the eastern side. Hope this helps. I also need tips on cage setup.

All gravid egg layers should be setup in a large enclosure(at least 3 ft long) with at least 6 inches of moist dirt that holds form. If they are not highly stressed they will bury the eggs (if they are they most likely will lay on top). Eggs should be removed asap and put half buried in moist perlite placed in a container with small air holes. All species eggs can be incubated in the mid 80s F constantly with a reptile egg incubator.
