I've looked at Lowe's, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, and on the internet. All I've found online are companies that sell to contractors - I imagine shipping on a roll of galvanized wire isn't cheap either. pls help.

I think the garden fencing (green) that is sold at HD is pvc coated - did you check the garden section?

I did check the garden section, and all I saw was regular galvanized rolls and some really flimsy garden fencing that seemed to be pvc coated. i did finally get a price quote for a 100' roll of 48" wide -$972.00 plus $55.00 in freight! I know that's a lot more than I need, but if you do the math it's still really expensive for the amount I would need to do one cage. It looks like I'd be better off buying a cage pre-made for those prices. People outside of the reptile world have suggested spraying regular galvanized with some type of plastic coat. I was wondering if you've ever heard of this? -or maybe even having a cage dipped in some kind of non-toxic plastic coat?

Home Depot has it. It is in the fencing section they have in 2feet X 5 feet and 3 feet X5 foot rolls.I just got soem there last weekend should have my cage doen this weekend, good luck. Dave

I read your post about home depot having the pvc coated wire. I was just wondering where you are from, because The 3 H.D.'s around here(Greensboro, NC) do not carry it. I was wondering if they would ship it to a store near me if I contacted the one you were talking about. Thanks.

that is really strange. Did you specifically ask for it (sorry, no offense meant ). I am sure they would order it for you since it is regular stock in "most" of their stores.

Funny The wire is made is china, and imported to a place in atlanta georgia.there is no company name i can give you, I bet they just didnt know what you meant, it says on the label of the roll i have left, VINYL COATED 1/2" HARDWARE CLOTH, maybe that might help. DAve

I use a spray paint can of stuff from rustoleium(??) You can use it on like hand tools, and stuff like that. I t comes in like 3 or 4 colors, and I buy 1/8 hardeware mesh (its kind of expensive tho) and put several coats on the mesh. It's really sturdy after a day or so to dry and get hard..
