Is there such a thing as a flourescent light lamp?

athos_76 Jun 03, 2004 09:23 AM

You know like the UVB strip lights, but a night time version... I'm trying to design my new cage, and thought it would be a good idea....
It probably doesnt exist, so I'll have to settle with two bulbs...

If so theater supply companies can sell you sheets of opaque, colored paper to wrap around bulbs or place over light fixtures. I have used in extensively to reduce visible light during nocturnal experiments in the lab I used to work in.

Comes in a variety of colors.

Like gels? Hmm.. I never thought of that. Sounds like an excellent idea. I'll talk to my buddy who is in a theatre company to see how much a small sheet would be...

Thanks again, Chris... as always, a huge help.

I'm sure what constitutes visible light is a species/population specific question.

I think at least part of this is your personal preference. Would you rather see them under red or blue light?
