gavinclews Jun 03, 2004 12:17 PM

just a quick question for all you beardie enthusiasts.I havent bread beardies before. I have 1 male and 2 females living together and they get on quite well.one of my females has all of a sudden started to get very porky and fat and is eating more than she normally does. Is there any way of being able to tell if she is pregnant. There has to be some sort of way of being able to tell. I dont know if i should be exited or not. If you can help. HELP!!

The easiest way to tell is to feel them once they start forming. Try floating her in warm water, and feeling inside the belly for marble shaped lumps. I always could feel them easier in the water like this. Another way is to take her to the vet and get an ultra sound done. exrays are very hard to see eggs on. Also if you notice her digging alot and looking anxious take her out and place her in a tub with soil sand mixture moistened a bit and see if she starts to dig her tunnel, but by this time if the eggs are fertile you should be able to feel even see the lumps in the belly on some females.

if you have 1 male and 2 females living together i hope you're ready for LOTS of babies!!!! they are probably both gravid by now.

incidentally - how's the mites situation going? - i know you posted a couple of days ago with a mites problem.

I certainly hope you are excited and prepared to raise dozens if not hundreds of baby beardies! You had to know housing a male with two females this would happen eventually.

I suggest now you start doing a lot of research and saving up money to get ready for this. Raising and placing all the babies in good homes is going to be a huge responsibility, consuming time and money.
