I will never do this again!!!!!!!

Ok, this is what I did and this is how I am paying for it!!!! I decided to do a bit of an experiment this season. I decided that I was going to breed my boas the old fashion way. Just put them together let nature take it’s course and just wait for the babies. I thought that things were getting too high tech (at least for me) with all the counting of days and POS dates and ovulation dates, so this season I did not write a single date down!, Yup no records at all. I figured that every day after 105 days from POS was so agonizing waiting for the babies that I was not going to do it to myself and that I would just walk out there and bam! Babies everywhere!
Well dang it, it does not work that way LOL. Now instead of waiting for a few days thinking that the babies will be here any second, I’m going on two weeks of thinking that the babies will be here any second! The gravid snakes are so big, that it does not look as if they could go another day, but if I had written down the dates I would know exactly when and not be going so freakin crazy right now. I’m now obsessing over them and checking them every couple of hours! I have an idea in my head (just by the signs of each snake) which one is due first, and I thought it would be cool if I could figure it out based solely on the snakes signs instead of the numbers, but I must admit this is worse then bamboo shoots under my finger nails, I will be in the nut house by the time they deliver, I am considering putting a cot in the snake room just so I can stay there all the time. I figured I have a sink, a freezer and a Microwave, I could stay in there for a few days before natured call me in LOL.
Oh well, I guess the high tech stuff and counting is better then going insane, I will never do this again!!!
And just as a side note, I wrote down the days of shed and laying for the corn snakes, I did not think I could go through 60 days of waiting for a couple hundred eggs to hatch LOL

by not writing down the dates, you allowed yourself extra time to appreciate the anticipatory excitement. ......Okay, maybe not. *grin* I sympathize completely. I forgot to write down the shed date on my girl this year, only remembering that it was in early January. By the time she gave birth May 6th I was a basket case. I've also made the vow to be sure to keep my records straight. lol

Good luck Hoppy... I'm sure you will let us all know when that first clutch arrives.

I slept in my snake room for 3 days, setting the alarm every hour. Ironically, she had babies in the afternoon.

LOL poor hoppy! We rarely write days down. We just know about what month they are going to give birth. So, we just check on them and wait. Our boas seem to have a trend of giving birth between 7-8am. And on my days off, in the 3 years Jason has been here (I never thought of breeding snakes before that) I have only missed 1 boa giving birth, and it was MY boa and her first litter. Couldn't believe it! The one I really wanted to see, and I missed it. Could luck on your waiting, it's always worth it ya know. We are waiting on our dumerils now! Someday...LOL
