Looking for Uro breeders

jmichalicek Jun 03, 2004 04:58 PM

Well, I'm definitely set on getting a Uro. Can anyone recommend a breeder? I am open to all species although I think the Saharans are my favorite so far. Breeders in Virginia are preferred, especially Richmond area as I can visit and see the lizards before buying them.

I will probably be checking with deerfernfarms.com as I know they have them (intermittantly, though, according to their website) and were recommended to me for their caresheet.

Thanks,
Justin

In addition to Deer Fern Farms, you can check out Urotopia.com. These two are probably the most recommeded and largest breeders of uros. Lindsay Pike (urotopia) is in Florida, I think, so the shipping distance would be shorter.

I'm sure there are other reputable sources, but these two are for sure great!

Hey Justin,

I'm not sure of exactly where you live but I am in Virginia Beach. There is a place here called Animal Jungle. They are not breeders but they sell all kind of herps. They are very reputable and they don't sell sick or injured animals. Most of the staff has a long background in working with all these guys. If you look in the yellow pages on the internet and search for ANimal Jungle in Virginia Beach they are located on Holland road. The reptile manager's name is Joe and he will hook you up if he can. Just tell him Brian with the 2 Uros recommended you and he will take care of you. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll definitely keep that place in mind. I'm in Colonial Heights (just south of Richmond and north of Petersburg), so it's not too far of a drive to make for the extra comfort in my purchase of being able to see the critter first. It'll be a few months here most likely... just got laid off (today is my last day on the job, actually), so I'm of course going to wait until I've got a job again. Do you know if they sell WC or CB or both and if CB could be requested? If not, I'll just give them a call and ask.

Thanks,
Justin

I'm pretty sure everything the sell is captive bred. You could always ask though. There is another place just down the rod from Animal Jungle that also gets Uros but they get a combination of W/C and C/B....I can't think of the name of the place though....I'll get back to you on it though. Good luck with finding a job. I know times are tough....my sister has had a rough time going job to job. Take care and good luck.

I just went to their website. I think this is a pet store that I was told about when I lived all the way back in Iowa. One of the girls at the store I bought my lizards and supplies from there told me about a place that sounds about like this that was in va beach when she found out I was moving out here.
