im getting really worried.....

herpsaremylife Jun 03, 2004 05:52 PM

My W/C sonoran gopher isnt eating at all. I caught it two weeks ago, and ive got it in a fifty gallon rubber-made container. ive tried pinkies, fuzzies, and full grown mice, and it hasnt eaten at all! its temp (day) is usually 75-80 maximum. it will hiss and puff up its head when mad, but wont even bite, and its extremely calm to hold, although i rarely hold it. i heard if i put it in a bag with a live mouse it might eat it. any suggestions? i really want it to eat!!!!!!! some good advice on how to get it to eat would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick
I wouldn't worry just yet . WC some times have hard time adjusting captivity . I may take a year or so before it will eat regularly . Are you tring live or frozen/thawed mice , try the the opposite . Do you have hind place for him . I like using cereal boxes and the snake like them to because they are tight which make them feel safe and sucure .

And raise the temperature a little. See my post in the wild caught Great Basin thread above this. Good luck.
