Has anyone used a Clorox solution to clean their cages? If you do, do you let the Clorox solution dry and then replace the snake or totally remove any dried residual Clorox after disinfecting?
Thanks
Rob

If you mean clorox bleach, yes I use it diluted in water. I make sure all surfaces are dry before replacing the snake.

Yes, when using bleach make sure the cage is thoroughly rinsed and dried before putting the snake back. Personally, though, I use a product called Quatricide PV by Pharmacal. You simply spray, wipe and the cage and any cage furnishings are disinfected and deodorized in one shot. I've been using it for years and feel it is the best stuff on the market (and makes cleaning a snap...no drying, rinsing, etc.). Rob
Chlorhexidine solution is another winner. You'll notice at vet offices that they soak instruments in the stuff to disinfect them. It can be purchased from The Bean Farm and the gallon bottle lasts a very long time.
Diluted chlorhex' is what my vet would have me use to clean mouth rot on some sick snakes so getting the stuff on your snake isn't a problem either.
The nice thing about chlorhex' is that the fumes aren't as nasty as bleach and it won't eat holes in your fingers if you get it on you.
I used to use quatricide like Rob does, but when the bottle ran out I moved to chlorhex'. Both are easier to use than bleach.
