Something that's been bugging me.

I recently came across a website for the Oregon zoo. They have a picture of a 'green' anaconda on their site that is clearly a yellow. You would think that being a zoo they should be more responsible about the facts they present to the public.
Their site is www.oregonzoo.com and from there its pretty easy to find the pics for their 'green' anaconda. They even call it eunectes murinus.
They also have a part where you can contact them. I have been trying to get them to see their error but no luck yet. Maybe if some of you all check it out and send them a note about it they will replace it with a factually correct picture.
Again I can't believe that a zoo wouldn't check this. I could see a webmaster who didn't know any better doing this but I'm sure the zoo provided the pic to be posted.
Just trying to get the facts straight,
Arik

It is a nice looking yellow though.

Ive been to that zoo and it's dissapointing, not well taken care of at all, you come out of the gift shop and into the walkthrough before you go into the actual zoo, you can buy these ice cream cones that are filled with goat feed and the like and you are suppose to take the feeding across the way, but you are met with 50 head of goats, sheep, rams and antelope things, you get littery pawed on and ramed as soon as you get near the gate, they are trained, one girl got trampeled by this and was hurt real bad, I went back in and reported it and the such and they could care less, they just tell you"please feed the animals away from the entrance" I will never go there again. Rude employees and can't stand seeing the lions pacing and their mane falling out in clumps. That pacing kills anyone.

Wow! Not only ignorant but dangerous too. There's an organization the oversees all the zoos in the country. I wish I could remember the name, but maybe they need a call. Not for posting the wrong pic but for what you said.
Thanks for posting,
Arik

I went to the zoo recently with my mother. There is a new exibit near my school being added that has everything to do with the amazon rainforest. Their large snake is a redtail boa. I was very interested in the exibit and told him I could not wait until it is finished and i askedhim why there would not be any water boas since the amazon is filled with water. He told me he knows all the boas and there is no such thing as a water boa (this is the snake guy mind you)...I said well perhaps you would know it as the green or yellow water boa. He said oh..green and yellow anaconda. Yes I said, also called water boas. "I have worked with snakes all my life and water boa is not a term anyone I have ever heard, nor has anyone I know." I said that I keep a lot of snakes and a green water boa is among them. He then proceeded to inform my mother about the TWO species of anaconda, one being three times larger than the other..the yellow being the big one. Then this wonderful snake man gave me a long lecture on how to get the snake off of me if it were to attack. DO NOT use alcohol or hot water, simply use your tongs you have with you and slide it in the snakes mouth and force it to open. I like this guy because he knows more than anyone I have ever known. Its a good thing I know not to use alcohol to get the snake off because this man told me it would just make the snake mad and bite harder. I expect this sort of behavior from pet store folks..but a zoo? check out this san diego zoo pic of this beautiful albino anaconda http://peter.communic-8.com/canada/albums/album23/ph6.html sorry folks but i can't sleep and i start to bicker and cry like a little baby when i'm tired...hope you all like the fun post of people not as smart as us : ) (not because we can spot an anaconda and know more about them...because most of us can say we don't know everything and will not sound like idiots pretending we do hoping the other guy is the moron)

check out the albino on that link...I have not looked at it recently but if i remember correctly it is an albino p.m.bivittalus and deffinitely not a Eunectes of any form. The Zoo does not usually know much, plus most of them a hippies against the exotic industry (I see a few points but they are the reason I can't have a snake over 6 ft in Illinois, they tell people how extremely impossible it is to have an anaconda as a pet...visit our forum please)
