Mold is one of those things that is always present as the spores are airborne. The only thing you can do is to use a mold inhibitor to prevent them from taking residence in your fruit fly cultures. Personally I use a ratio of 1 cup vinegar to 1 gallon distilled water to prevent mold growth. There are other products you can acquire from biological supply houses that work well and can be added to your culture. As far as getting rid of the mold in your culture, I am afraid your only choice is to scrap infested cultures and start over.

if its a black mold, it happens. don't open the container as the spores will go air born. when it happend to me i just moved cultures away from the area to one with more air flow.
