Best way to introduce a Female to a Male?

Tasiamay Jun 03, 2004 10:51 PM

I have a mature male and female Crested Gecko. The female has been in quarantine for the last four months, and she is finally ready to come out. My hope is to get the two to eventually be a breeding pair. What is the best way to introduce the female to the male? The male is in the "main" cage and the female is in the quarantine cage.

I could rearrange the scenery in the male's cage, but would like to avoid that if possible. It is a naturalistic type setup, and would be a pain to change around. I have no problem doing this if it is the only way ... but thought I would check here for other ideas first

Thanks - Kristin

Pic of the male's cage (where I am hoping to put the female into). It is a 30 gallon high.

You might try having him breed roses

Just teasing , Actually Ive seen this sort of post quite a few times . I can tell you that in each case for me the males are happy to see females . It is notable however that gecko mating looks pretty harsh and can be VERY stressful on the concerned owner the first time you observe it.

Kristin,

No worries. Just put the female in there. She'll be fine.

Thanks for the info. I figured it would be okay, but wanted to double check first.
