Some of you may remember I crossed a snow corn with a black king (L. g. nigra) in 2000. I raised up a female F1 and crossed her back to her father (a snow corn) this season. The clutch recently hatched and here are the results:
3 normals
4 amels (one is pictured)
2 anerys
3 snows
Backcrossing to the snow corn was preferable to breeding the female to another F1, since I prefer the heavy corn influence in the offspring. Also the snow's genetic make up allowed for a more varied mix color wise. An F1 male would have produced mostly normals when bred to the F1 female. However, my curiousity has now been piqued and I will be raising up a male F1 (I also did the snow corn X black king cross this year) to breed to the adult female F1 in a few years. That should result in less color morphs but more variation amongst the offspring. Some should end up more king like which will be interesting.

I certainly don't care what they think of me or my hybrids. Live and let live. (or is it live and let die?) LOL.
