New to Japanese Fire Newts; Will someone help me?

Horshac Jun 18, 2003 03:32 PM

Hi, i'm new to Japanese Fire Newts and all types of lizards for that matter. Anyhoo, i'm going to be getting one soon, but i'm not sure how to take care of it. The only info. i've had so far was from Petsmart (and i've seen that many of you don't approve of their methods), so i was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers. I don't even know how to set up the tank. ( I decided to post here because it looks like you all really care about your animals and i am hoping this will be informative. Thanks very much.

P.S.
I also don't know if/how you can tell their sex. What kind of water. How much water. Filtering stuff. Water treatment stuff (can i use the same water treatments as for my fishtank?). Etc.

As Morg pointed out, all the answers to all these questions can be found at the websites he gave. In particular, read all the FAQs at caudate cental. And that site has a whole article on how to sex them.

Check out the sites
www.caudata.org/caudatecentral
and
www.livingunderworld.org/

You should get the answer to all of your questions on those sites.
