bed-a-beast as substrate?

has anyone ever used it? if so, what were the pros/cons? thanks

I've used it, but NEVER for a dry cage...I've used it in humid, tropical setups. It holds moisture extremely well, and is cleaner than plain soil. When I used it, it was a compressed coconut fiber potting medium, of course, not "bed a beast". Same stuff.

The problems I can see with using it dry are that it becomes dusty, and sticks to everything--it's very light, and flies around. I wouldn't use it for leopard geckos. If you have a rainforest setup, it works great, you simply replace it when it shows signs of decay. It keeps humidity up extremely well.

Substrate no. but is use it in lay boxes and humid hides and can not be happier with it. Retains moisture well,no mold,no stink, no problems. : )
