Just bought a pair of baby hermanns...

Just bought a pair of cb baby hermanns. Recently I set up an indoor/outdoor type of setup consisting of a rubbermaid sweater box and topsoil. I put a watering dish and have and a cave like hiding place. I keep the pen outdoors (NY area) for the moment. My concerns are with the winter season. I have a pair of adult russians that i leave outside and have no problems in the spring. Should I leave the hermanns out as well? Or are they too young to start the hibernation process? They were born in the early part of this year so they are about 4-5 months old.
Thanks,
Jon

The common wisdom seems to be NOT to hibernate them for the 1st winter, & possible the 2nd. I got a hermanns hatchling last September & it spent the winter indoors with my 2 year old Egyptian. I'm not sure if he'll hibernate this winter or bunk with the Egyptian again.

BTW, you're really going to enjoy these guys. My 4 year old male hermans is my favorite tortoise.
